Observation notes: This little thing was hiding under an empty planter box on our deck. We have had an influx of Miller moths in the last couple weeks-they are particularly bad this year. It is about 75 degrees F, here in Northeast Colorado Springs, CO.

Coordinator notes: This is a “red saturn moth” of sorts; it is indeed largely red in color and in the silkmoth family Saturniidae. Specifically, it is the Glover’s Silkmoth, Hyalophora (columbia) gloveri, one of the most frequently observed silkmoths in Colorado. Thanks for submitting your sighting!
