Observation notes: On Black Sage (Salvia mellifera) in an area of the Claremont foothills where the native vegetation is transitioning from sage scrub to chaparral, although there is quite a bit of non-native grass. Laurel Sumac (Malosma laurina) was abundant where this moth was sited. I've never seen one of these before, but I'm told that they were formerly common in the area.
