Our summer fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America online and free. If everyone who uses this resource makes a donation, we could cover our ongoing costs, develop new features, upgrade the system, and maybe even remove those pesky ads. Please make a one-time or recurring donation to show your support for this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Observation notes: oUp Hyalite Canyon outside of Bozeman, Montana. We were picking Huckleberries (plant/berry seen in picture) and I spotted it on a leaf. The berries were growing on a North facing hillside under a stand of lodgepole pine trees. I saw another one later in the day, although the white spots on its back (which I now believe to be groups of hair?) were separated so it looked like it had 6 "pods" (I called them pods prior to learning they may be stinging hairs) on its back instead of just 3 as the one in this photo.
