Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Weather: Mostly sunny and ~77 degrees. Notes: After Variegated Fritillaries, I'd say Checkered Whites (tied with Orange Sulphurs) were the second-most abundant butterfly species out on the eastern Pawnee National Grassland. This is a freshly-emerged male nectaring on a Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale).
