Eight-spotted Forester
Alypia octomaculata

Observation date: July 04, 2019
Submitted by: Tom Raub
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I thought this was an Eight-spotted Forester Moth at first glance. But I noticed only six spots. The closest I was seeing is a female Alypia langtoni but the spots looked off for this to me.
Status: Resident
Verified by: curtis.lehman
Verified date: July 05, 2019
Coordinator notes: This almost certainly has to be an aberrant form of Alypia octomaculata. No other Alypia sp. occur in Pennsylvania and can be ruled out.
