The Small Engrailed
Ectropis crepuscularia

Observation date: June 30, 2019
Submitted by: greggra
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Mostly cloudy, (55%), with the sun moving in and out of the clouds. Around 67-degrees F. It landed on a wooden 2X12 step, (1 5/8 inch thick), in the shade of a Mulberry tree and flattened out. The antennae must have been folded down, back and under the wings. After taking some photos, I used the step it was on to get by but that didn't seem to bother it. One photo, (No. 0375) had white balance set to sun even though the moth was in the shade. The other photo (No. 0379) had the white balance set for flash which fired. The first photo seems to reflect the natural color better.
