Observation notes: The butterfly was flying fast around our milkweed colony, landing on several of the blooming flower heads. It is not a common sight here in central Nebraska and even more unusual for it to be nectaring. It hung around quite a while, flying from one to another flower heads. It was a warm, sunny day, slightly cooling toward evening.
