Lorquin's Admiral
Limenitis lorquini

Observation date: June 10, 2019
Submitted by: Zencoyote
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Finally this individual to hang around for a photo shoot. This part of the Calavera Preserve is a narrow strip that parallels a stream for about a half mile till it breaks out into chaparral, and is a partially shaded corridor between Sycamores and Willows of the creek and the Oak and scrub lining the South side of the trail. This butterfly likes to hang around the thistle and other annuals, but rarely lights for more than 5 seconds any one place. Does a bit of opening and closing of the wings at rest.
