Sheridan's Green Hairstreak
Callophrys sheridanii

Observation date: April 07, 2019
Submitted by: Christian.Nunes
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Two individuals cavorting with each other and a Moss' Elfin (C. mossii). All active during the peak warm hour of the day from about 1430-1530 hrs. When I was hiking out closer to 1600 hrs I did not find them again and the location was in shadow. Temperature in the canyon was approximately 67F.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Obviously a Sheridan's Green Hairstreak, famously one of our earliest-emerging Colorado butterflies (besides those that overwinter as adults, of course). Amazing photos, too; I would suggest that you recommend them for the photo gallery (especially the 2nd and 3rd ones). I hope to see at least one of these myself next weekend, during the City Nature Challenge (which you should definitely participate in if you aren't planning to already).
Checklist region(s): United States, Colorado, Boulder County
