Observation notes: Windy, partly sunny, 55 degrees. I saw this butterfly on the south facing slope of a hill near a ( mostly) frozen lake. Plants growing in the area include Ponderosa Pine, Junipers, Yucca, and Wax Currants. About 1/4 mile away from where I saw this butterfly, I noticed a few small Buttercup plants (Ranunculus spp.) just starting to bloom. Elevation in this area is approximately 7,400'.
