The Bruce Spanworm
Operophtera bruceata

Observation date: December 05, 2018
Submitted by: purplechickadee
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This moth has been on my sliding glass doors since very early this morning. Do you have any idea what kind it is? Isn't it very late for a moth?? It's REALLY cold outside today (29 degrees right now at 10 am). First photo shows the moth's back, and the second photo shows its underside (taken from inside the house).
