Yellow-striped Armyworm Moth
Spodoptera ornithogalli

Observation date: September 21, 2018
Submitted by: KLion
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Very warm, humid and overcast weather, with poor lighting conditions for photographing. The caterpillar was 2 to 2.5 cm long. To the naked eye, it was black with yellow/green longitudinal stripes at about the 10:30 and 1:30 positions on a body cross section. It was eating a weed growing in a joint between concrete paving units. The two macro photos are cropped, but otherwise unaltered.
