Coordinator notes: This is an aberration. I'm somewhat guessing at the correct species but since the Mormon Fritillary was so common this year in the area of your sighting I'm fairly confident it is also this species. These types of oddities are relatively rare. Some collectors will pay handsomely for such types of weird butterflies since they are scarely ever seen. Mike
