Observation notes: This caterpillar, and dozens others just like it, were crawling across a gravel road in a rural area of central Oklahoma, just west of Oklahoma City. These were all observed around 10:15-10:30 a.m. under a sunny sky and warm temperature (~75° F.) Within a one-mile stretch of road I counted at least thirty of them. They all appeared to be in about the same instar and were all similar in size and color. They moved quickly. The attached photos are of two different individuals.
