Mournful sphinx
Enyo lugubris

Observation date: September 14, 2018

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It landed under my mother’s carport while I was grilling meat. It seemed very tired. It hit the lights a few times and then landed on the ground and did not move for over an hour. My dad poked at it to cause it to fly but it did not fly long and landed again soon thereafter. I am near Birmingham Al in a surrounding city called Fairfield, Al. Hurricane Florence just made landfall this morning on the East coast in North Carolina.
