Snowberry Clearwing
Hemaris diffinis

Observation date: September 04, 2018
Submitted by: cmcubilla
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was very still, sitting on a marigold bud, which is beside a large hydrangea. It was very hot, nearly 90F, with little to no breeze. In our yard we have rose of sharon trees, petunias, poppies, morning glories, roses, a butterfly bush, a pussywillow, oak trees and a few weeds I don't know the names of. We have two species of hummingbird moths, but I don't know what this pretty flyer is. It was very still for awhile, then it began vibrating it's wings. It was not concerned with my presence and allowed me to put the camera very close.
