Clymene Moth
Haploa clymene

Observation date: August 11, 2018
Submitted by: Snafuu25
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: 71 degrees Fahrenheit—Rainy muggy New England night. Found this little guy yesterday night same spot on my back yard deck near the outdoor light. It’s not very active but did open its wings and fly onto my hand as you can see on the photo. I never saw one before so quickly grabbed my iPhone to snap a quick photo. The photo was only edited slightly to make a vignette and boost the saturation a tiny bit so it’s wonderful yellow would show up properly. It’s got what looks like a upside down black T. Some say it looks like an upside down cross but I say it’s more of a T. I can’t get a good photo of it spreading its wings so I’m going to leave it be and see if it returns another day. Pretty rad looking moth though!!
