Small Ranunculus Moth
Hecatera dysodea

Observation date: July 24, 2018
Submitted by: A_baldini
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Time: ~9:15 p.m. Habitat: Multiple kinds of purple flowers next to the sidewalk. Notes: On July 24, I caught three of these moths for my National Moth Week "moth house," all of which were nectaring at purple flowers (a couple examples are pictured here). This seems to be the most common species of nocturnal feeding moth in the area.
