  Sighting 1175120

Observation date: June 24, 2018
Submitted by: A_baldini
Specimen type: Sighting
Observation notes: Time: ~7:00 p.m. Weather: Warm, fairly calm, and mostly cloudy. Habitat: Drainage canal supporting common milkweed, large trees, and various other vegetation. Notes: Despite the clouds and time of day, a small Monarch was actively flying near the canal, and eventually landed about 8 ft. up in one of the trees, allowing for a close look to confirm that it wasn't a Viceroy. I may have seen one other Monarch in the distance, but I don't know for sure.
Status: Temporary Colonist
