Date notes: I have many other photos also, clearly showing the Atala butterfly eating bamboo leaves, just five feet from my Coonti palm.

Observation notes: I purchased a coontie palm a month ago, and placed it in my back yard here in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, to hopefully see Atala butterflies. Two days after, I spotted an Atala butterfly in my front yard, and today 7-29-2018 I watched an Atala butterfly as it flew past the coontie palm, and up into my bamboo. As I photographed it, I noticed that it was actually eating the bamboo leaves.
