Lorquin's Admiral
Limenitis lorquini

Observation date: July 15, 2018
Submitted by: Bedora
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Flew into our sunroom and eventually attached itself to a glass door panel which allowed me to take some pictures of its underside as sunlight filtered through its body. A hot sunny day. It found its way back outdoors. Our backyard has lots of flowers and plants that attract butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, etc. Various species of birds, reptiles (alligator lizards) and snakes are also plentiful. A portion of our yard is forested with old trees and we're near the Pacific Ocean. Three other butterflies were in the sunroom at the time, different species (one was a monarch, one light blue in color, the other white); unfortunately, no pictures. Howe Sound area, West Vancouver, BC Canada.
