Lupine Blue
Plebejus lupini

Observation date: June 15, 2018
Submitted by: Lisahug
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: elevation about 7800'. along south shore of Lundy Lake, just after the trail leaves the riparian and joins high desert. Lots of yellow buckwheat present. The books say that the spots on acmon blue are more pink and on lupine more orange. i don't see that. What did catch my eye was that the goldish blue dots at the base of the orange spots seem more iridescent and shinier than any that I've seen on acmon blues. That is not mentioned anywhere as a field mark that I could find, so it may not matter. several individuals encountered on this walk of about a quarter mile - maybe a dozen or so. I uploaded a buckwheat shot as well as a habitat shot.
