Observation notes: Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in upper Lancaster county. Butterfly was seen at entrance to hiking trail near the visitors center. Surrounding grasslands appeared tall undisturbed with numerous common milkweed plants. Butterfly was landing on dog scat and taking some nectar from a few nearby white clovers. Most of the milkweeds were not blooming.
