Promethea silkmoth
Callosamia promethea

Observation date: May 29, 2018
Submitted by: taylorschwift
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Its wings were incredibly damaged and very tattered. It was lying in the grass from the damage next to my apartment in Madison, WI. There were no plants around it besides long grass and a few bushes. It was sunny outside and very hot (approximately 93 degrees.) The damaged to the wings seemed to be making it unstable and kept trying to fly away but with no avail. Once a piece of the wing was taken off it flew just fine and headed North.
