Tersa Sphinx
Xylophanes tersa

Observation date: April 08, 2018
Submitted by: lynnmonet
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This beauty was happy to keep me company all afternoon while I planted in my garden. She hung out until it turned dark and then she disappeared. This was a coolish overcast day, after a night of hard rain and warmer weather. No significant nearby trees, a native shrub I believe called "mule fat," Lady Banks Rose, lilies, hosta, liriope, roses, clover, and a nearby pine forest. Also found near my hummingbird feeder, although I did not see it feeding.
