Observation notes: Sleeping individual on poison oak shrub showing resemblance of underside wing camouflage pattern to lichens on the shrub. Sunny afternoon, calm conditions with temperature in mid 50's F. While I noticed this resemblance in an earlier observation, I was unable to obtain a photo to document it until now. The butterflies were beginning to enter tree branches at this time of day to sleep, so I watched for one to photograph.
