Field Crescent
Phyciodes pulchella

Observation date: June 25, 2012
Submitted by: sgguthart
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: None.
Status: Resident
Verified by: A_baldini
Verified date: March 14, 2018
Coordinator notes: As far as crescents go in northern Colorado, the Field Crescent stands out due to its unique tricoloration: orange, yellow, and white (besides brown and/or black, of course, which all crescents have). The only similar species is the Painted Crescent, but these are not known from as far north and west as Larimer County. This one appears to be nectaring at Yarrow, a very beneficial native plant for butterflies and other pollinators.
Checklist region(s): Larimer County, United States, Colorado
