Observation notes: has been below freezing at night for several nights. about 62 degrees and sunny when saw this ragged butterfly. Only butterfly seen all day while doing a Christmas Bird Count.

Coordinator notes: It was not too long ago that it was said Painted Lady's cannot overwinter within the USA. They are in Bakersfield as well. So much for the idea global warming is always bad-Ken Davenport
