Trichodezia albovittata

Observation date: June 27, 2017

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Seen flying during the day in a patch of mixed conifer (Ponderosa, Douglas Fir and Lodgepole Pine) and aspen forest that burned as part of the Flagstaff Fire on 6/26/2012. The moth was about 200 meters below the saddle between South Boulder Peak and Bear Peak in what is known as Aspen Canyon. The moth was active and difficult to photograph with my phone, eventually flying swiftly out of reach. The distinct black color with bold white bars across the wings was very distinct and I recognized it as a species that I have never seen. I note that there is only one record on BMONA from Colorado, and it is from nearby Gilpin County. I'd be curious to hear about the reviewer's experience with the species in CO as I suspect they are more common that the reports indicate.
