Tuliptree silkmoth
Callosamia angulifera

Observation date: May 29, 2017
Submitted by: dogwoods
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: On this sunny afternoon with weather in the mid 70's to 80's this beautiful Cecropia Moth appeared on our screen door that leads out to our back deck. He did not appear to have much movement except for when I started to meddle with the door, which is when it showed off it's beautiful wing span with its Cecropia markings. Wing spans can range from 5 to 7 inches for this species, which is the largest moth to be found in the North America's.
