Observation notes: Male adult of Erynnis tristis (mournful duskywing), reared from an egg on Quercus (oak). The egg was collected along with a few others on growing shoots of the host on 7/30/16. Larval development took approximately seven weeks and pupal development took three weeks under temperatures of 20-26°C. The adult butterfly eclosed on 10/11/16.
