Observation notes: while I am familiar with Painted and American Ladies, this butterfly was more striking visually to me. There was only one butterfly seen.

Coordinator notes: Correctly identified by the observer. This may be a new record for Rio Grand County. I will have to check and if it is I will report it for submission in the Lepidopterists' Society Annual Summary Report for 2016 (published in Spring, 2017). Very nice pictures.
