Three-spotted Skipper
Cymaenes tripunctus

Observation date: June 13, 2015
Submitted by: LCOOPER298
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Three Cymaenes tripunctus were observed in shaded grassy area in two locations in Lake Louisa State Park. Flight is fairly weak and all three stayed in very small area. Long antennae with white just before bend, spot pattern consistent with this species, color is brown. Weather conditions were sun all day and high temp 94*. The three of us familiar with this species all agreed after watching behavior and observing field marks. Both places they were observed is near Dixie Lake inside the park. Other observers were Sue Farnsworth of Winter Springs and Laurel Rhodes of Venice FL. I am only able to put one orange dot on the map so this is the site the photo was taken. The second location was south of the cabins prior to the campground on a service road.
