Observation Notes: 
Observed alighting on (and probably nectaring on) Prairie Verbena (aka Dakota Mock Vervain) and Pungent Bitterweed. Some eight of this species were observed along the trail during our four-mile loop hike. Some individuals were in a powerline right-of-way along a low ridgeline.
