Sighting Record 1259201

Observation Notes:
Not an uncommon species, as I have seen it at this location from June through August. However, on this date it was the second most abundant species seen (1st was Dainty Sulphur). I logged perhaps 45-50 this day. Basically, just a gorgeous butterfly.

Observation Notes:
One individual seen on mud in the creek bed. This species is not uncommon in the mtns of SW NM, but this is my earliest observation by about 2 weeks.

Suggested Identification:
Four-spotted Skipperling - Piruna polingii
Specimen Type:

Organism Type:
butterfly

Sighting Record 1259198

Observation Notes:
I submit this photo not because the species was rare for date/location, but because it shows a rather aberrant individual. All of the others (~30) of this species seen that day were 'normal', in that they showed pronounced and easily visible white FW/HW lines, and pronounced green and copper colors. This individual was dull by contrast, though this may be a function of age and scale loss perhaps.

Sighting Record 1259196

Observation Notes:
Another observation of Clouded Skipper from SW NM, this time from the Pinos Altos Mts. N of Silver City. I observed 33 species this day, 4 of which were simultaneously nectaring on the same Cirsium sp. flower: Clouded Skipper, Edwards' Skipperling, Taxiles Skipper, Northern Cloudywing. When the Cloudywing vacated, it was replaced by Slaty & Large Roadside Skippers. I am not submitting the 'mob' photos since depth of field was an issue; focus is best for the Clouded Skipper in the photo included here.
