Subfamily: Megathyminae
Identification: Upperside: Both wings suffused with orange, especially basally. Postmedian band of orange-yellow spots on both wings. Underside: Dark gray with postbasal and postmedian bands of gray-white spots. Caterpillar similar to that of the Orange Giant-Skipper.
Wing Span: 2 1/16 - 2 1/4 inches (53 - 58 mm).
Life History: NULL
Flight: September - November (1 flight).
Caterpillar Hosts: McKelvey's agave in the northwest; chrysantha agave and hybrids with Parry's agave in the southeast.
Adult Food: NULL
Habitat: Canyons and rocky slopes in desert mountain ranges.
Range: Eastern California, central and northeastern Arizona.
Conservation: NULL
NCGR: G4 - Apparently secure globally, though it might be quite rare in parts of its range, especially at the periphery.
