Observation notes: My 3 year old class was on a field trip having a fun time when one of the boys found the green caterpillar and wanted to bring it back to daycare. In a day in a half the caterpillar when into a cocoon. The class was super excited because we had never seen this happen before. On Monday (8-4-14)when I arrived at work I found him out of his cocoon. The children where super excited and we tried to quest what kind it was a moth or a butterfly. On August 5th we did release him but still unsure to call him a butterfly or moth. The weather on the day we found the caterpillar was a warm sunny day with a light breeze. The caterpillar was crawling on the side of some bricks. We did put a leaf from a maple tree in the holder. We are located in Decatur, Illinois and we where at the DMH track
