Clymene Moth
Haploa clymene

Observation date: July 29, 2014
Submitted by: schafferlori
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I found this moth in the woodchips in a playground on a sunny morning about 10:00 a.m. Temperature was low 70's. It sat in the wood chips for a long time in the same spot and I thought it was dead. I used a stick to pick it up carefully and looked at its underbelly. Bright yellow! I set it back down. After about another hour. I came back with my camera to take pictures. It was in exactly the same place. When I tried to pick it up again, it flew off into the grass. I got a photo of its underbelly also. Both pictures are of the same exact insect.
