Observation notes: I have seen one of these maybe three times in the 33 years Ive been in Northwest Arkansas ( Madison County ) They are as buzzing loud as a hummingbird, strong flyers, he went from flower to flower and he didnt want me there but he wanted that flower so badly that he didnt go far. I had gone to take photos of these lillies and was gifted with his company. After reading your info I see that the HUGE worms on the tomato plants last year could have been one of these. Ive never seen such a gigantic caterpilar. He was so determined to get from flower to flower and the scent was wonderful.
