Observation notes: Monarch caterpillars pupating on our potted Wollemi Pine Trees. Since Wollemi's were thought to be extinct until recently, this may be the first time in millions of years that Monarch's have pupated on them! We bought a dozen tropical milkweed plants for our new house and had the pots in the backyard. They were visited regularly by Monarch butterflies and quickly had some Monarch caterpillars on them and about eight have pupated on our house and on the Wollemi Pines so far.
