Observation notes: This butterfly was in my backyard garden. It was sitting on some dried iris leaves, but nearby butterfly bushes and zucchini plants. It was mostly sitting still with wings folded. Every once in awhile it fluttered its wings to show the orange topside. It was late morning, sunny, about 80 degrees. I first saw it on my zucchini plant, then it flew around a little bit and landed on the iris.
