Observation notes: Many patches of showy milkweed along the wild & scenic section of the Rogue River, OR. This particular patch at Black Bear Bar had numerous caterpillars busily browsing the plants while they were being pollinated by honeybees, other butterfly species and at least one hummingbird clearwing moth. The caterpillars appeared to be munching at the blossoms as well as leaves & stems.
