Cecropia silkmoth
Hyalophora cecropia

Observation date: June 22, 2014
Submitted by: pvasshep
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Female emerged from a jar which had constricted her wings or they were constricted because of the original location of the cocoon (between strips of plastic on an outdoor chair). The female got herself onto a table and began laying eggs. After the male arrived, the female began laying the eggs on the arm of a patio chair. In spite of constricted wings, the female was able to move about from one piece of furniture to another. Sunny, pleasant in the high 70's, not very humid.
