Yellow Angled-Sulphur
Anteos maerula

Observation date: June 14, 2014

Observation notes: This appears to be a Brimstone but what is it doing in Southwest Florida? We still have the butterfly at our facility. The Florida Native Butterfly Society 239-690-2359
Status: Stray
Verified by: John Calhoun

Coordinator notes: This is an excellent record of the Angled Sulphur, which is a rare stray that reaches Florida irregularly, probably from Cuba. This is very far north for this species. It is usually recorded only in the Keys.
