Observation notes: This the first time i have ever seen this moth. In observation i noted the physical qualities much like a hummingbird moth. It was fascinating to watch as it almost constantly rubbed it's fuzzy hind legs together, in a circular motion, as it flew. We have an an unusual amt of rain lately. Both days i made observations it was sunny and dry, temps in 70s, low 80s. We have up until recently been in severe drought conditions for the last 3 years. This moth did not seem to favor a particular flower. All my Butterfly Milkweed, about 10, are in bloom and this is where I first noted the moth. In the photo it's on a pincushion flower.
