Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I just submitted another caterpillar, but these two were found in the same area without even moving our feet. This one was more hidden in the dead grass, though, and not hanging from the grass in the open. Again, this is an overcast day in the afternoon. Reasonably warm for the coast of NL in May with minor wind. A grassy field on top of a rocky outcropping between two coves. Dead, yellowing grass as seen in picture. About ten feet away a forest of black spruce starts. Relatively undisturbed by humans in the last few years. An abundance of caterpillars out in the open, many sparrows nesting in the surrounding trees as well.
