Observation notes: On Milkweed (several Danaus caterpillars in our zero-pesticide yard now). Weather = cool & dull - several inches of rain in past 48 hours. This was on the same host plant as two Monarch caterpillars, but I noticed an extra pair of "horns" (and red at the base of them) so investigated further to confirm this was a separate sub/species and not a mutation.
