Luna moth
Actias luna

Observation date: August 16, 2011
Submitted by: cjj
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was very large, and was right on the trail, so I photographed it and then moved it to the side so it wouldn't get stepped on. The weather was very rainy..it had rained for about two days.
Status: Resident
Verified by: rosslayberry
Verified date: April 01, 2014
Coordinator notes: There is no question, it is a Luna. Perhaps it is ready to pupate, that is why it is an odd colour. It might have been disturbed or maybe it fell while making its cocoon. That would explain why it is on then ground. RAL
