Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: was very dark yellow, sun burned out color. it look like a very new hatch. there must be filters to put on lenses to prevent this. I read one guys post that said to shade butterflies. they almost always fly when i do that especially is there cold. high fifties to low sixties not much action. this was on the edge of a burned area. got some rain. but very dry already in most places. we are in trouble if theres no more rain/ken do a rain dance. chaparral and sage scrub with dry stream bed. oaks willows, some nice blooms on the edge of pavement annuals and perennials . the burn area is getting some lush growth. but getting dry. if it rains there will be amazing blooms. wind was blowing hard off shore or out of the north east this butterfly was having trouble with gusts and was cold.
