Cabbage White
Pieris rapae

Observation date: March 05, 2014
Submitted by: CathleenGillingham
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found him flying around the house. The temperature outdoors has been below freezing for quite some time. I have photos of a caterpillar taken 11/6/13 that was on a nasturtium I had that I brought into the house; he spun himself underneath one of the leaves. I have a photo of the silk-covered caterpillar somewhere but cannot locate it.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Nasturtium is an alternate foodplant for the Cabbage White, about the only one which is not in the Cabbage family. RAL
